ONE UGLY COWBOY (OUC) is an original Toronto based country/rock band fronted by powerhouse female vocalist 'Hurricane Jane'. OUC soulfully blends gritty country and in-your-face-rock with their up-beat … sometimes funny and often heartfelt tunes.

OUC was formed and founded by
vocalist JANE SOWERBY and guitarist RICHARD ZWIC.
Jane honed her chops fronting various bands including ‘A TRIBUTE TO JANIS JOPLIN’ and eventually landed in Los Angeles where she was repped by veteran artist manager Gerry Tolman (CROSBY, STILLS & NASH) and attorney David Rudich (MONTLEY CRUE).
Richard has written & worked with various JUNO winners over the years. He has opened the show for headliners Bryan Adams, Steppenwolf, Nazareth, Toronto, Headpins, Sheriff, Rick Derringer, The Animals and Pat Travers.
Zwic produces all of OUC's music.
Sowerby/Zwic have been songwriting together for years but their independent careers took precedent (Sowerby is an award winning actor with over 100 film/TV credits) but late in 2014 while sitting in their home recording studio they decided to get the tunes off the shelf.
In 2015 bass player RICK OTTENBRITE & drummer MIKE MANN joined the band.
OUC always delivers a high-energy show with a diverse repertoire packed with commercial well-written original tunes. They also love putting their ‘ugly cowboy spin’ on classic tunes that take country/rock to a whole different level!
OUC’s debut EP ‘Get Yer Ugly On’ was released in 2015. Their first full-length album RIDE WITH THE WIND was released January 2020 & 6 singles off that album charted top 5 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown Chart - 3 of those being voted #1 by listeners at CICC.
In 2022 OUC singles - I LOVE WHATCHA DO & their cover of Johnny Cash's RING OF FIRE charted #1 on the CICC chart and both songs ranked in the top 10 for the year end final chart.
Their single I'M OWNING MY CRAZY (2023) also charted #1 - setting a Canadian Indie Country Countdown record for the most #1 singles by an artist.
RING OF FIRE was chosen by the Country Music Association of Ontario as 'video pick of the month' Oct. 2022.

2023 they were nominated for GROUP OF THE YEAR and lead singer Jane Sowerby for VOCALIST OF THE YEAR (Country/Rock/Southern Rock) at the prestigious Josie Music Awards that took place last October in Nashville, Tennessee at the Grand Ole Opry House.

2024 they have been nominated for the Texas Sounds International Music Awards.
Live show highlights include being a part of the line-up at such festivals as Havelock Country Jamboree, Boothill Country Jamboree, Smoke 'N Spurs, the Canadian National Exhibition (4 consecutive years) & have opened for such artists as Honeymoon Suite, Lee Brice, Jason McCoy, The Box, George Canyon, Eric Ethridge, The Washboard Union & River Town Saints.

ONE UGLY COWBOY'S wealth of experience both musically and in life makes them a band that will not only uplift their audience but more importantly
leave them with moments to remember.
